As the centerpiece of the "Urban Living Room" initiative, the "Urban Tree" project showcases groundbreaking advancements through its ETFE pneumatic membrane and Voronoi polyhedron grid system, redefining lightweight architectural innovation.
ETFE membrane demonstrates extraordinary prowess. Dubbed "flexible glass," it achieves 95% light transmittance while weighing merely 1% of conventional glass. Its technical superiority shines in mechanical resilience: over 400% ductility and tensile strength capable of with standing 12-level typhoons and hailstorms. Engineered with nano-level hydrophobic coating, the membrane's self-cleaning capability allows rainwater to remove 90% of pollutants, coupled with a 25-year lifespan that slashes maintenance costs by 70%.
Wanhao innovatively used air ETFE roof.units in this project, each independently controlled by an intelligent pressure regulation system to form a "breathing membrane skin." Integrated with an algorithm-derived Voronoi steel grid mimicking leaf venation, 12 tree-inspired pillars support this biomimetic structure. This design not only enables a 4,000-square-meter column-free span but also optimizes functionality through air-cushion insulation, achieving sunshade, noise reduction, and thermal efficiency.
A hidden "magic of light and shadow" enhances its charm: embedded LED lights and ETFE membrane materials work synchronously to create color changes that change with time and seasons, transforming the canopy into a dynamic urban art installation.
Wanhao's leap in urban construction technology driven by this ETFE air cushion membrane not only redefines public space design, but also sets a new benchmark for the application of building membrane materials in small and medium-sized cities, completely revolutionizing the traditional architectural paradigm.
