As a man-made product of nature, architecture is the result of the interaction of environment, space and perception. The perfect fusion of membrane structure lightness and tension in modern architectural design, with its unique lightness and dynamic beauty, is increasingly being used by architects as a source of design inspiration. Through the application of modern materials and technologies, the membrane structural architectural form presents a stunning visual effect and spatial experience.

Located in the south of the Songjiang campus of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Technology, the Wind and Rain playground opens a visual window based on the river, and then inspires the idea of following the terrain. Its appearance is derived from the image of the sail shadow, the blue waves, the endless flow and the eternal movement. The land area of the project is 11,500 square meters, and the construction area is about 8,800 square meters, of which the sports field area is 6,300 square meters. It is a training ground set up for football competitions in universities around the world, and also serves as a place for daily physical education and sports for school students.

The planning and design fully respect the current situation of the campus landscape, continue the dialogue relationship between the building and the water, the "sail" of the building and the river symbiosis, a "static" and a "moving", together form a complete picture. The shape of the building is like a sailing shadow moving slowly in the sparkling light, showing the beauty of the vigorous movement and vitality of young students through the smooth and stretching curve form.

The roof undulates with the shape, the building height changes flexibly, and organically integrates with the sports field. The resulting curved roof creates a colorful fifth facade. The semi-enclosed structure gives the wind and rain playground a more humanized open scale. Integrated with the surrounding environment, campus activities are organically combined with the natural elements of the site and the unique movement characteristics of the sport. ETFE membrane (soft glass) dome makes the whole playground transparent, not only conducive to ventilation and lighting, but also gives the facade more freedom and reduces the construction cost.

The curved roof is formed by a single ETFE tensioned membrane (skeleton support type) wrapped around a metal skeleton, which is composed of simple triangular elements. From the inside, the rhythmic and rhythmic changes create the beauty of rhythm.

In the selection process of ETFE film materials, two colors of blue and white and different transparency of the film materials are deliberately selected, and the interval collocation is arranged according to the structural direction of the metal steel skeleton, showing a jump like change. The curved surface reflects the surrounding environment, blurring the line between the roof and the sky. The two long sides of the building adopt wavy floating strip steel columns to show a sense of strength between soft and rigid, realizing the concept of structural achievement of architectural beauty.
