The football stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, with a capacity of 30,000 spectators, is part of a comprehensive renovation and expansion project. As the stadium had been in use for over 30 years, its facilities were outdated and in need of improvement. The redesign required careful consideration of the safety of the existing infrastructure. Initially, tasks such as positioning the foundation pillars and demolishing the existing structure had to be carried out. Scientific and effective technical methods were employed, including 3D scanning, structural analysis, and health inspections. After multiple design iterations, the final choice was a PTFE membrane roof with a large cantilevered structure. The main truss extends 45 meters outward, with the horizontal connections arching upwards. The roof uses a highly self-cleaning PTFE membrane material. The open design of the stadium provides a spacious and unobstructed view inside, allowing the football dreams of the African people to take flight here. This stadium will be one of the venues for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. The entire design, construction, and production were undertaken by the Marriott team, demonstrating their expertise in design and construction services. This project also lays a solid foundation for expanding their operations in overseas markets.
