The Membrane-Steel Structure Project of the ASEAN Featured Commodities Convergence Center adopts an umbrella-style sunshade design, a standard configuration for open-air pedestrian commercial streets. Such structures come in diverse forms and utilize various materials. Commonly seen types include movable push-pull and foldable sunshades, typically crafted from traditional fabrics or polyester. These have poor anti-aging and self-cleaning properties, making them suitable for temporary shelter, such as shading outdoor seating areas of cafes and other street-front establishments. For permanently fixed sunshade facilities for public seating, membrane-structured sunshades are the preferred option. Their structural formation involves first installing foundation embedded parts, followed by erecting the steel framework, and then tensioning and covering the membrane materials over the steel structure.
