Project profile

Shanghai University of Engineering Science Songjiang Campus wind and rain playground steel structure, membrane structure dome project, the use of steel structure +ETFE membrane form, span of 52 meters, length of 120 meters, building height of 22 meters, the main steel structure plus secondary steel structure total steel volume of about 1300 tons, ETFE membrane expansion area of about 10,400 square meters. The building functions as a venue for sports activities such as 5-player football, basketball and badminton competitions. The use of ETFE film provides sufficient light for the sports field under the dome, while shielding the direct sun for the players on the court, and the rain does not affect the holding of sports events.

Introduction to steel structure foundation

Wind and rain playground adopts single-layer hyperbolic reticulated shell structure, unique shape, both design and construction are more difficult, the need for unique construction technology. The main structure mesh shell part adopts H-shaped steel hub node form, the whole is elliptical, the shape of two slightly convex, curved shape, so that the overall structure is more beautiful and elegant. The single-layer steel mesh shell structure fully demonstrates the charm of the structure, especially under the sunlight, the shadow of the steel mesh falls on the wall or ground of the building to form stripes, which adds a dreamlike beauty. The edges of the hyperbolic Q650GJC steel pipe are sealed, and a total of eight hyperbolic special-shaped supports are arranged symmetrically, and the surrounding steel pipe is connected with the special-shaped support column by casting steel parts. The whole structure is light and gives people a beautiful feeling.

Introduction to membrane structure roofing

The ETFE tensioned membrane structure allows the light flexibility of the membrane material to easily create a preset shape, which is beautiful and unique in the quiet campus environment. The transparent ETFE membrane structure dome can not only shield the wind and rain, but also provide sufficient sunlight for sports events by using its light transmission, save energy, and reduce the impact of lighting on sports events, creating a light and transparent space environment. Different from the ETFE buildings that used air pillows in the past, this project uses a single layer ETFE, because no air pillow structure is used, the single layer membrane is more significantly transparent, coupled with the slim cross-section of the structure, the overall feeling is light. However, due to the limitation of the strength of the material, the film cable is built in the film surface to strengthen the film strength, and it is precisely because of the arrangement of the film cable, the material weld is properly hidden to the position of the cable. So when you look up, you can hardly feel the weld. It is also a perfect combination of work, technology, technique and art.
