The ETFE air cushion canopy project in Dabanqiao, Taizhou is located in Jiaojiang District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It consists of ETFE air cushion canopy and PTFE membranestructure. This project consists of 88 triangular air cushion units and 4 inverted anti suspension PTFE membranes. Combined with LED lighting, it will be the highlight of the entire large bridge project.
The construction process involved several key steps. First, the steel structure was meticulously installed to provide support. Then, ETFE membrane units were welded and assembled into triangular air pillows on-site. These pillows were inflated to form the canopy, ensuring structural stability and light transmission. The project also integrated PTFE membrane structures for added durability. Throughout the process, advanced techniques and strict quality control were applied to ensure the project's success.
ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance fluoropolymer known for its exceptional durability and versatility. It is a semi-transparent material often used in modern architecture. ETFE films are incredibly lightweight yet strong, capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions and UV exposure. Unlike traditional glass, ETFE membranes can be engineered to be self-cleaning and energy-efficient. They also allow natural light to pass through while providing insulation, making them ideal for innovative building designs such as greenhouses and stadium roofs.
ETFE membranes have unique properties that make them highly desirable in various applications. They are highly resistant to corrosion and chemical degradation, which extends their lifespan significantly. Additionally, ETFE can be easily recycled, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Its flexibility allows for creative architectural shapes and structures.
