The steel consumption for the membrane structure project of Zunyi High speed Railway New City is 500 tons, and the membrane deployment area is 8000 square meters. After the completion of this project's 3D LED animation, it will be the largest LED animation in Asia, and the ETFE canopy will become a large-scale ETFE building in Guizhou and even the whole country, bringing business opportunities to the Zunyi Municipal Government.
At the construction site of the Zunyi High-Speed Rail New Town ETFE Canopy Project, workers from Wan Hao Engineering Co., Ltd. are busy installing the ETFE membrane structure. The site is a hive of activity, with steel structures being meticulously assembled and membranes being carefully laid out. The project features a massive ETFE membrane covering an area of over 12,000 square meters, supported by a steel framework weighing 1,660 tons. The workers are working diligently to ensure the project meets the highest standards of quality and safety, aiming to complete it on schedule. This project will not only serve as a functional canopy but also become a landmark in the city.
ETFE, or ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, is a fluoropolymer material known for its exceptional properties. It is lightweight, yet incredibly strong, with a tensile strength of around 50 MPa, nearly twice that of PTFE. ETFE film is highly transparent, allowing up to 95% of natural light to pass through, making it ideal for architectural applications. It also has excellent resistance to chemicals, UV radiation, and weathering, with a wide operating temperature range from -184°C to +150°C. Additionally, ETFE is self-cleaning and has low surface energy, which prevents staining.
ETFE's unique properties make it a versatile material with a wide range of applications. In architecture, ETFE membrane are used for roofing and facades, creating lightweight and energy-efficient building envelopes. It is also used in greenhouses to maximize light transmission for crop growth. In the aerospace industry, ETFE is utilized for wiring and insulation due to its lightweight and durable nature. Additionally, ETFE flim is used as a protective layer for solar panels, enhancing their performance and longevity. Its self-cleaning and recyclable nature further contribute to its sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
