The organic dome greenhouse fcompetition project won by the architects from C. F. Møller Architects and Søren Jensen Rådgivende Ingeniørfirma at Aarhus University has now been completed. The organic greenhouse features an advanced ETFE air pillow dome structure on its roof, creating an almost perfect microclimate environment for plant growth. It optimizes the growing conditions of plants in multiple dimensions, including light, temperature, humidity, and air circulation.

ETFE is a lightweight and transparent material that has brought revolutionary changes to the construction industry. This semi-transparent fabric is known for its high strength, chemical resistance, UV stability, and self-cleaning properties. ETFE cushions can provide excellent insulation properties while allowing natural light to pass through.

The greenhouse frame is optimized through advanced calculations to ensure that form and energy loss reach their respective peaks, allowing for the best possible utilization of sunlight. The dome and orientation are derived from this, resulting in the largest volume, which receives the best solar incidence angle in winter and vice versa in summer.

The building has an organic form with a huge volume, allowing people to walk under the canopy and explore different climate zones. This makes the greenhouse a model of European garden architecture.
