As the largest modern intelligent venue in China’s central and western regions, the construction progress of the Central Plains International Convention & Exhibition Center has drawn widespread attention. At its core lies the "pin-shaped" layout of Phase I, Section II, where all eight exhibition halls (9#–16#) have reached structural topping-out. A total of 48 main trusses—each weighing up to 380 tons and comprising 20,000 tons of steel in aggregate—were successfully hoisted, with the entire main structure completed in just 400 days. This feat is attributed to Zhejiang Wanhao Space Structure Group’s innovative management model: dividing the project into four work zones for parallel construction across all eight halls, overseen by a dual governance system of zone directors and grid managers to ensure seamless control over scheduling, quality, and safety. Their proprietary BIM-driven digital pre-assembly technology achieved millimeter-level precision for the 20,000-ton steel framework, completing all hoisting in 70 days—a new industry benchmark.
The Phase II project, the Central Plains High-Speed Rail Port Digital Exhibition & Trade City, is now in a "100-day sprint" toward completion. Wanhao, in partnership with China First Metallurgical Group, has mobilized over 4,000 workers for cross-trade operations including metal roofing and glass curtain wall installation, successfully delivering the 98,000-ton steel structure. For engineering challenges like the 160-meter extra-long-span arch and 43.5-meter curved cantilever, the team deployed a "zoned hydraulic lifting system" integrated with vibrating wire sensor monitoring, achieving ±2mm precision in steel erection. A "digital twin" platform further assigned unique 3D identification codes to every component, ensuring flawless alignment of tens of thousands of steel elements. This "technology-management" dual approach has shortened the timeline by 10 days, with critical milestones like the central axis arch already finished ahead of schedule.
As a key supporting facility for the 3rd National Vocational Skills Competition, the project’s 533-room hotel is 90% complete in fit-out and on track for May 31 delivery. Wanhao has infused regional heritage into the design, incorporating Yangshao Culture leaf motifs and Songshan Mountain ridgeline aesthetics through exposed steel structural artistry and PTFE membrane roofing. The venue’s digital command center provides real-time oversight of all operations, dynamically coordinating 4,000+ workers and 22 tower cranes to ensure workflow synchronization. This blend of functional innovation and cultural narrative exemplifies Wanhao’s commitment to creating intelligent spaces with soul.
From the "Central Plains Speed" of Phase I to the technological leadership of Phase II, Wanhao has set a new standard in large-span structural engineering, having successfully delivered over 118,000 tons of steelwork with zero safety incidents. With the June 30 completion deadline approaching, this ¥10-billion landmark is poised to elevate Zhengzhou’s Aviation Economic Zone into an international convention hub. Wanhao’s dedication to craftsmanship—turning blueprints into reality—epitomizes how visionary engineering can fuel regional economic transformation, solidifying CPIEC’s role as a catalyst for Central China’s rise.
