Wan hao has exclusively designed the Barbados Flying Fish Music Theme Park, prominently featuring ETFE material. The ETFE structure, especially its tension design, maximizes transparency. The highly translucent ETFE membrane, or transparency foil, allows ample natural light to enter, reducing the need for artificial lighting in performance areas. With a light transmittance of up to 95%, it creates a vibrant atmosphere, enhancing the musical experience while aligning with sustainable architecture.
The extreme lightness of ETFE, just 1% the weight of glass, enables large - span tension structures with less support. Marriott's design expertise shapes unique forms, like the park' s wave - like entrance canopy made of ETFE cushions. This not only adds visual appeal but also provides shelter, while the material’s flexibility helps it withstand wind.
For safety, the park' s design meets public building standards, resisting 8-degree earthquakes and 115-mph hurricanes. A prefabricated steel frame with fluorocarbon - painted ETFE surfaces protects against corrosion.
Wanhao's exclusive use of ETFE at the theme park blends functionality, aesthetics and sustainability to create a one-of-a-kind musical and architectural experience.
