Chongqing Longxing Professional Football Stadium in China

Chongqing Longxing Football Stadium was originally constructed in April 2020 and completed in December 2022. The stadium covers approximately 303 mu of land and has a gross floor area of 166,900 square meters. It has a seating capacity of 60,000 and provides more than 2,000 parking spaces for motor vehicles. The overall structure consists of four above-ground levels and one underground level.The stadium includes multiple functional zones, such as competition areas, media and broadcasting areas, commercial operation areas, and spectator areas. The south stand features a dedicated home-team ultra-supporters’ stand with seating for over 9,000 fans, making it currently the largest home ultra-supporters' stand in China.

The total area of the landscape lighting LED screens is approximately 100,000 square meters, ranking among the largest LED screen installations worldwide.

ETFE material, with its lightweight, high strength, high light transmittance, self-cleaning properties, and ultra-long durability, has become one of the preferred materials for modern large-scale sports stadium roof systems. This material is lightweight as feathers yet exceptionally tough, with excellent light properties that can effectively bring in natural light. It also boasts outstanding self-cleaning capabilities and an incredibly long service life.

 The stadium’s exterior features a dynamic spiraling form created by alternating transparent and opaque materials, with textured surfaces enhancing depth and movement. Semi-transparent elements enrich the façade, admit natural daylight to interior spaces, and allow the structure to glow at night as a vibrant urban landmark.

Technological innovation has equipped the stadium with an advanced “intelligent brain,” highlighted by China’s first “Smart Football Command Center” in a professional football venue. Using digital twin technology, the system enables comprehensive, real-time visualization and management of all stadium operations. Data from vehicles, equipment, energy consumption, security, events, personnel, and environmental systems are fully integrated, allowing managers to monitor and coordinate activities efficiently through a single large display, significantly improving operational performance. The stadium’s lighting system features 424 professional luminaires with one-touch mode switching, including broadcast and emergency settings. It meets FIFA Class V competition standards and supports 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting requirements. Meanwhile, a powerful sound reinforcement system comprising 212 line-array speakers ensures full-venue coverage with balanced, controllable sound pressure levels, allowing chants such as “Xiongqi” to resonate clearly throughout the stadium. The façade incorporates more than 20,000 square meters of high-transparency ETFE membrane, paired with China’s largest single-unit LED dot-matrix transparent grille screen. When illuminated, the stadium shines like a bright star in the night sky, creating a striking landmark within Chongqing’s eastern new urban district.
