Pangu Grand View, located in the North Fourth Ring Road, the core area of Yaao, only 180 meters from the Water Cube and 500 meters from the Bird's Nest, is the only landmark urban complex in the central area of the Qianqing Olympic Park. The project covers a total area of 39,360 square meters, with a total construction area of 418,484.70 square meters. It is composed of a super 5A office building, three international apartments, a Pangu seven-star hotel and a commercial corridor with a total length of 411 meters.
The "dragon head" of this dragon is the top part of the office building that is 191.65 meters high. Recently, due to the demolition construction, it has become a scenic line in the sky of the capital. Many people will look up and take pictures after passing by, "Pangu Grand View was actually demolished." Since a few months ago, the "faucet" has been put on scaffolding and cranes. During this National Day holiday, two "clips" were added to the protruding part of the top floor, and they were gradually removed from the tip.
Pangu Grand View was designed by Mr. Li Zuyuan, a famous architect from Taiwan, China. "There is no national architectural art in the world that does not speak the national language, nor does it involve ethnic customs. Therefore, to measure the architecture of a country, to measure the architectural art of a country, depends on the national language it speaks." Based on this, Li Based on his understanding of the axis of Thousand Years of China, he designed the Pangu Grand View with the technique of "East Soul and West Skill".
In Li Zuyuan's design concept, he is very persistent in "Chinese architecture", and often adds elements that can reflect the spirit of Chinese traditional culture in contemporary architecture. For example, in the Taipei 101 building, he cleverly borrowed from auspicious clouds and bamboo elements, designed the whole building to climb up the tall bamboo joints, and decorated with ancient coins at the intersections of the bamboo joints. But such a Chinese architectural concept has also caused a lot of controversy.
Another large-scale building designed by Li Zuyuan, Shenyang Fangyuan Building, directly uses the ancient coin shape of the outer circle and the inner square, implying that the owner's financial resources are abundant. Such a simple and crude shape was selected as one of the ten ugliest buildings in the world in 2012.
Pangu Grand View is another controversial work of Li Zuyuan. Many people think that the "dragon head" that rises in the sky above the central axis of Beijing is particularly abrupt. The Pangu Grand View was built and put into use before the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Since then, the design surrounding it has been controversial. The accredited people call it an "international landmark building that speaks the Chinese language", while opponents think it is a vulgar concrete building and a "visual pollution" in the Olympic area.
In January 2011, a domestic website held a selection of "China's Top Ten Ugly Buildings" in Beijing, and Pangu was on the list. Since then, whenever there is a competition similar to the ugliest building in China, Pangu Grand View has been shortlisted almost again and again. Probably because of such embarrassment, coupled with the location of the facade on the central axis of Beijing, reconstruction is imperative.
In addition to ugliness and expensiveness, the Pangu Grand View is also famous for its illegal construction. Because of the unauthorized construction of a large number of illegal buildings on the roof, in 2010, the Beijing Municipal Planning Commission issued an announcement to name Pangu Grand View. These illegal buildings include the addition of a 2-storey sloping roof compound courtyard building on top of 3 buildings, including apartments, hotels, and commercial buildings, with as many as 12 groups. The total illegal construction area exceeds 11,000 square meters.
As the developer Beijing Pangu's Investment Co., Ltd. has been involved in economic disputes, Pangu Grand View has experienced many auctions in recent years. Today, the controversial Pangu Grand View may usher in a brand new look. With a new look, can it change its former embarrassing situation? We can wait and see.
