Saudi Arabia has formally submitted its bid documents for the 2034 World Cup. The country plans to have 15 soccer stadiums ready for the 2034 World Cup, and the infrastructure investment associated with preparing for the world event is expected to amount to hundreds of billions of dollars.
On November 1 last year, FIFA officially confirmed that Saudi Arabia was the only candidate for the 2034 World Cup. On December 11, FIFA will officially announce the host country of the 2034 World Cup.
Saudi Arabia has revealed it will host matches in five cities for the 2034 World Cup after winning the bid. In addition to the capital Riyadh, other cities include Jeddah, Al-Kobar, Abha and Saudi New Future City (Neom). Eleven of the 15 stadiums will be new, while the remaining four will be upgraded to existing stadiums, each of which will have more than 40,000 seats to meet FIFA's requirements. The venue was designed by leading international architects Populous, gmp and Foster + Partners.
According to the bid submitted by Saudi Arabia, the stadium in Neom will be "designed to be one of the most iconic landmarks in the world". The stadium is planned to be built within Neom's linear city, The Line, 350 meters above the ground, equivalent to the top of a tower of about 100 stories.
Yasser Misehar, president of the Saudi Football Federation, said that all stadiums will be equipped with the latest technology to provide a great experience for all fans.
