Vučić visited the construction site and praised the China-Serbia cooperation project

On May 14th local time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the construction site of the Serbian National Exhibition and Convention Center project. He inspected the progress, exchanged views with Chinese and Serbian builders, and highly praised the achievements. This mega - project, for the 2027 Belgrade Expo, has a membrane structure roof and connecting corridors built by Zhejiang Wanhao Group as key highlights. 

A “breathing roof” shows Chinese engineering brilliance. The membrane structure project by Wanhao Group, the core of Southeast Europe’s largest international trade exhibition venue, is the highlight. The membrane covers corridors, exhibition halls, and administrative buildings. The roof uses solutions like single - layer ETFE membranes, double - layer ETFE air pillows, and four - layer ETFE air pillows. It has a total area over 60,000 square meters, equivalent to 9.8 standard football fields. 

The Serbia National Exhibition and Convention Center will be the main venue for the 2027 Belgrade Expo, welcoming participants from 120 countries and over 4 million visitors. It symbolizes practical China - Serbia cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. From the Serbia National Football Stadium to this exhibition center, Chinese companies use advanced technology and effective execution to write new chapters in Sino - Serbian “steel friendship”.

President Vučić emphasized during inspection that strategic projects are turning Serbia into a metropolis and citizens should be proud of them. Builders from Zhejiang Wanhao Group, like “star welders” in the Balkan night sky, overcame challenges such as cross - border resource coordination, extreme weather and strict European construction standards. They advanced key project phases including steel structure assembly, welding and membrane structure installation, helping Serbia realize its vision of becoming a “regional exhibition and economic center”.  

In 2027, the world will focus on this landmark building. Currently, the project is in the crucial stage of steel - structure assembly and membrane installation. This masterpiece combining Serbian traditional architecture and Chinese engineering skills is being built in Belgrade's Surčin district. When the 2027 World Expo opens, the ETFE roof by Zhejiang Wanhao Group will show a “floating forest” visual effect in the sunlight, and it will be a great place for global guests to experience China - Serbia friendship and share development opportunities.

From Zhejiang, China to Belgrade, Serbia, and from technological innovation to cross - border cooperation, Zhejiang Wanhao Group used ETFE membrane technology to build a cultural exchange bridge. Let's look forward to this new exhibition landmark jointly created by China and Serbia shining in 2027!
