ETFE Description
ETFE Membrane A polymer of tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene, known also by its acronym ETFE, is a thermoplastic fuorocarbon-based polymer (a fluoropolymer). It was originally designed to have high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range.
compared to glass, ETFE membrane is 1% the weight, transmits more light and is also resilient, self-cleaning (due to its nonstick surface) and recyclable. An example of its use is as pneumatic panels covering the outside of large sport complexes, such as football stadium Allianz Arena or the Beijing National Aquatics Centre - the world's largest structure made of ETFE membrane, well known also as the "Water Cube".
Wide service temperature range
Low flammability
Excellent mechanical and electrical properties
Very good resistance to chemicals and solvents
Extremely high resistance to outdoor weathering, self cleanning
High light transmission in the visible and UV
ranges
Low Maintaince in foundation and steel structure
Excellent tearing resistance
Very low permeability
Same pervious light effect with glass, but more security, more light, more flexible, more creative in style and energy saving effect, also has long life expectancy, good self-cleaning depend on anti-adhesive surface properties.
ETFE membrane available in clear, matte, opaque white, and some limited colors.
Because of single material, So it divide class depend on thickness, as 150µm、200µm、250µm、300µm. The commonly used is 250µm and300µm. Manifestations can be single layered, multilayered etfe air pillow.
ETFE membrane are widely used in all kinds of landmark building roofing system and façade decoration such as stadium, airport, railway satiation, city square landscape, commercial plaza roof, skylight . ETFE combine with LED light can make facilities very shiny and brilliant.
