Changan Li shoppingmall ETFE air pillow steel membrane tensile structure project is located in Jiaxing , the total amount of steel used in the project is about 440 tons, ETFE membrane structure spread area is about 3200 square meters.Each cushion consists of two layers of ETFE foil. The upper layer is being printed on the inside part of the cushion with little silver coloured dots to improve the G-value.The down layer is totally transparent .Due to the big wind load and rain in that city ,both layers have a thickness of 300um ,The cushion will have an air pressure around 300 Pa, inflated by dry air ventilators. The air reaches the cushions through a galvanised spiral steel pipe distribution system. The roof is divided into sections. Each section has its own blower unit and emergency unit.
We install our ETFE foil as multi-layered cushions or as a single layer foil, based on our client’s needs,Cushions have two or more layers of ETFE foil and depend largely on the U-value requirements of the project.
Single Layered ETFE Structures
ETFE can be applied as a single layered membrane and tensioned with either wire cables, lightweight steel, or aluminum to maintain shape and stability.
Multilayered ETFE Structures
In two or more layers, a pneumatic cushion is created that is then attached using aluminum extrusions and supported by a lightweight structure. These cushions are filled with low-pressure air, providing thermal insulation and structural stability against wind or snow loads. If needed, small cables can be used for additional tensioning and support. Under typical loading conditions, ETFE cushions can range from 5 to 15 feet wide and reach up to 200 feet in length.
