Gate of Dubai Expo 2020

In the design of the entrance gate to the 2020 Dubai World Expo, asif Khan applied the futurism to the traditional window pattern, a fine design widely used in the region to regulate the sun and air circulation. The cube in the form of black lace creates mysterious dark spaces at the same time. When you look closer, it will penetrate more light. "Woven fabric" depicts a mural with distinct patterns under the blue sky, and at the same time casts a shadow of mirror image on the site, representing an artistic, architectural and localized way of welcoming guests.

The three gates are made of super light carbon fiber blended yarn and have high structural strength. In fact, this enables each gate to be 21 meters high and 30 meters long without additional support. Each gate is made up of two huge doors - 21 meters high and 10.5 meters wide, which will be opened every morning during the 2020 World Expo to welcome visitors from all over the world. They are located in three areas of the site - opportunities, mobility and sustainability, and once in, people will be led to the lush arrival of the courtyard, which was also designed by asif Khan.

British architect asif Khan is good at architecture, installation and many other fields. Aiming at technical and design innovation, he often makes unexpected works. His representative works include the megafaces exhibition hall at Sochi Winter Olympics, the Coca Cola Pavilion at London Olympics, and the "darkest building in the world" designed for modern cars at Pingchang Winter Olympics.
