ETFE Air Pillow Structure Canopy for Wuxi Olympic Sports Center in China

With the successful completion of the ETFE air pillow, known as the "engineering pearl," the main structure of Wuxi Olympic Sports Center has been fully assembled—air pillow structure over the stadium has been completed, with only a few PTFE membrane need to be installed later. As an important milestone, comprehensive internal fine decoration and project closure operations have been fully launched, setting off the final assault towards the completion goal.

ETFE waterproof material with its lightweight, high strength, high light transmittance, self-cleaning properties, and ultra-long durability, has become one of the preferred materials for modern large-scale sports stadium roof systems. This material is lightweight as feathers yet exceptionally tough, with excellent light properties that can effectively bring in natural light. It also boasts outstanding self-cleaning capabilities and an incredibly long service life.

The air inflated structures core links with the highest degree of technical integration and the greatest construction difficulty in the entire Olympic Sports Center project. From the design of the etfe cushions, the processing of ETFE membranes, to the configuration of the inflation system, as well as high-altitude installation and subsequent operation and maintenance, each link requires precise control,the project fully reflects the strength of Wanhao.

Since its planning, Wuxi Olympic Sports Center has been endowed with the significant mission of enhancing the city's level and meeting the high-quality cultural and sports needs of citizens. This  inflatable sports dome satdium, which integrates hosting major events, national fitness, cultural performances, and commercial leisure, is expected to be completed and opened soon.
