Asia's largest railway hub, Beijing Fengtai station will soon be put into use

After more than three years of construction, Beijing Fengtai Station has been built outside the third ring Road in southwest Beijing. This new era of China railway passenger station benchmark work, in the construction process continues to attract the attention of all sectors of society.

Beijing Fengtai Station is a super large railway passenger station located between the West fourth ring road and west third Ring Road, with a building area of nearly 400,000 square meters and a yard scale of 17 stations and 32 lines. It is the largest railway hub passenger station in Asia. Will be opened after the beijing-guangzhou high-speed, high-speed Beijing port, as well as the abundant sand, Beijing, the beijing-shanghai, beijing-kowloon line of sd and Beijing suburban railway routes originating into operation and seamless line of Beijing subway line 10 and 16, the depth of the implementation with other Beijing railway hub, optimize the structure of capital, transportation, improve the comprehensive transportation system in the capital.

Beijing Fengtai station is the first railway station in China to adopt overlapping arrangement of high speed, general speed and passenger depot. The ground floor is the common speed yard, and the high floor 23 meters above is the elevated yard, which changes the layout of traditional railway lines and realizes the innovation of railway function layout, forming a unique pattern of "high-speed railway running on the top, common speed running on the ground and underground subway".

The double-deck yard also gives rise to a new form of station house streamline. Beijing Fengtai Station combines the general speed in and out of the yard with the elevated yard at the end of the station, forming a non-interfering two-field in and out of the station streamline system, creating a three-dimensional traffic model of new station buildings.

In order to ensure the continuous operation of the existing Beijing-Shanghai line and Beijing-Guangzhou Line, and to ensure the simultaneous advancement of the subway, national railway and municipal administration, the construction of Beijing Fengtai Station is divided into three phases: the north area of the first phase, the south area of the first phase and the second phase. It is the most complicated construction project of its kind. The first phase north area project was capped on August 18, 2020, and the first phase south area began construction in July 2020 after the completion of the subway. On August 30, 2020, the beijing-Shanghai line and beijing-Guangzhou Line were transferred into Beijing Fengtai Station, and the second phase of the project was fully started.

The INFORMATION team of China Railway Construction Engineering Group independently developed a steel structure life-cycle management platform based on BIM+GIS, numbering more than 10,000 main components and more than 70,000 welds, so that they all have traceable "ID cards". Managers can use the mobile phone management platform App to scan the TWO-DIMENSIONAL code posted on the components to realize the size, material, specifications, weight and a series of "identity" information of each component like the palm of their hand, so as to accurately arrange construction on the basis of this.

The elevated waiting hall is located at the lower level of the high-speed railway platform, how to let natural light into the room? The answer lies in the 496-metre-long central atrium, the ETFE air occipital membrane structure. Walking in the meantime, the sun pours out, transparent and bright.

High-speed rail platforms also hold secrets. More than 200 light tubes "transmit" natural light to the elevated waiting hall through reflective materials. By adopting a dual-mode non-electric lighting system, the overall energy saving rate of Beijing Fengtai Station can reach more than 10% and reduce carbon emissions by more than 900 tons.

Photovoltaic panels are arranged on the roof space of more than 60,000 square meters, which is expected to generate 7 million KWH of green electricity every year, providing green energy for lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation in the station.

The construction of a series of super projects, such as Beijing Fengtai Station, witnessed the rapid development of Chinese construction and opened up the development road of Chinese construction. The new century-old station is about to open its doors, bringing travelers a whole new travel experience.
