The Mandela National Stadium is located in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and it is the largest and highest-standard national multi-purpose stadium in the country. The construction of this stadium involved the use of 4,100 tons of steel, with PTFE membrane/wall surfaces covering an area of 63,000 square meters. The stadium has been renovated and expanded; its seating capacity has increased from 45,000 to 60,000 seats. Additionally, new facilities such as hotels, Olympic-standard swimming pools, and multi-functional indoor venues have been added to create a comprehensive sports complex. The core part of this upgrade is the installation of PTFE membrane roofs, which will solve the problem of having no roof over the stadium and meet the standards required for international competitions. This stadium will serve as the home venue for Uganda’s national team as well as one of the venues for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027.
